San Germán City of the Hills

About two-and-a-half hours from from Casa Clara Vista, Puerto Rico's second oldest city-- San Germán, holds court from the rolling hills in the southwestern part of the island.  Quaint, romantic, and possessing a charming mix of architecture, San Germán is not to be missed if you are planning a longer trip to the island.

Symbols of San Germán: The flag (Green) for the family of  Christopher Columbus, Viceroy of the Indies;

(White) for the purity of the blood of the families who colonized San Germán; (Purple) for Juan Ponce de León, the first governor of Puerto Rico.  A map of the municipality showing the locations of the nineteen barrios or "townships;" the municipality's coat of arms with the five towers of a Spanish municipality,the mitre and the Staff that  represent St. Germain of Auxerre and the purple lion of Juan Ponce de Leon..
