Wednesday's Fun: Not So lazy Bones!!! Staying at Home with Dominoes!!!

A typical game of dominoes in Puerto Rico on a specially designed domino table.

Sometimes visitors ask: "how did people survive for months without electricity after maria?"

Casting aside the obvious observation that people survived millennia without electricity, the real root of their question is more specific. What they mean to say is "how did people survive without electrical devices for months after Maria?"

Folks here like their technology like everywhere else, but (like most island dwellers) they are pretty adept at entertaining themselves; and as we face the isolation of sheltering in place without alcohol, at least we have the consolation of dominoes.

Sunday family gatherings are dominated by this game, as are city squares, beaches and every horizontal surface where four people can face one another. And for good reason. Dominoes is an excellent mix of chance and strategy that stimulates the mind and passes the time effectively.

Just in case you have a set at home and have forgotten how to play, I have included a great video from YouTube as a refresher: How to Play Dominoes: Domino Rules - YouTube.

Enjoy! And remember dominoes does not require 48 rolls of toilet paper, 20 pounds of potatoes, or 14 gallons of mike to play.

Make the most of your quarantine and remember to WASH YOUR HANDS!!!
