Caguas The City of the Turabo Valley

About thirty minutes south of San Juan, the city of Caguas is a treat of culture and delight.  Dominating the Turabo Valley (the largest on Puerto Rico) Caguas has countless museums, a charming plaza, its own excellent fine arts center and numerous bars, restaurants and galleries.  Friday nights explode when the street in front of Bellas Artes is closed to traffic and the space fills with revelers bar hopping and carousing in the open air.   The plaza has several nice food and drink kiosks, fountains, an aviary and an enormous living clock.  Dress coolly though.  the trade winds rarely penetrate this formidable valley and it can get quite hot during the day if you are used to being on the coast.  So put on your tank top, grab some bottled water (or a fresh squeezed lemonade at a kiosk in the plaza) and enjoy!!!
